Introduction:

Just a short year ago the tablet market was pretty barren. You had the iPad and…well that was about it. There were some no-name Windows CE ones out there and maybe even an Android tablet or two floating around in Chinese flea markets, but if you wanted one you were getting 9.7” with fruit on it. Samsung was the first to really put their hat into the Android tablet market with last year’s Galaxy Tab, but not until the announcement of Honeycomb and the Motorola XOOM has Android posed a serious threat in the tablet world. Now it seems everywhere you turn another sexy Honeycomb tablet is being released or announced.

Arguably the leader in Android smartphones, HTC found itself in a curious position being tablet-less. After months of speculation they finally announced the Flyer back in February, and while the 7” tablet would be running a new version of sense with HTC-worthy hardware it curiously was only running non-tablet optimized Android 2.3. We later found out that Honeycomb is not yet open source, and HTC had not been provided with the source code. To some extent they have countered with their own excellent Sense interface, and with the release of the EVO View 4G on Sprint they have added 4G data to the model, but will that be enough to compete against the Galaxy Tabs and Transformers of today? Read on to find out!

Design:

The HTC EVO View 4G shares the same design as the Flyer we reviewed last month, but in keeping with the EVO family, the color scheme has been changed to charcoal with red accents. We approve. We really approve. Not to say the Flyer isn’t good looking, but the EVO View 4G makes you take notice whereas the Flyer can blend in. Couple that with the aluminum unibody construction that HTC is so good at and you have a seriously good looking device. The EVO View 4G still has plastic accents on the top and bottom; the top one can be removed to access the microSD slot and we’d imagine that the bottom one houses the antennas for less interference. This bottom insert is raised significantly above the rest of the body which gives it a nice hand hold when held in landscape mode, but makes the EVO View 4G feel a bit awkward in portrait orientation.

htc cha cha ana status with fb shortcut key

Labels:

Have you updated your Facebook status recently? Now you don’t have an excuse with the new HTC Status, which is available from AT&T. The Status is nearly an exact duplicate of the HTC ChaCha that is sold overseas, as both come with similar hardware, and don’t forget about the handy Facebook button on the front. Thanks to its low price of $49 with a 2-year contract, the HTC Status is a welcome addition for those individuals looking for an Android smartphone with built-in social networking that won’t break the bank.

Included in the retail package is the HTC Status PH06130 smartphone, 1250mAh battery, wall charger with detachable microUSB cable, SanDisk 2GB microSD memory card, and user guides.

Design:

The HTC Status fits comfortably in the hand and is remarkably thin at 0.42” and lightweight at 4.32oz. The youthful color scheme of white, silver, and blue may not be for some, but it is refreshing from the deluge of all-black smartphones that can be seen everywhere.

The HTC Status fits comfortably in the hand

You can compare the HTC Status with many other phones using our Size Visualization Tool.

The display on the Status is just 2.6” in size, which is on the small side, but with its HVGA resolution, images are clear and most text is sharp, except when you use the web browser (more on that later). We can expect that some people will be turned off by its lower than average screen size, especially when other phones sport a 4.3” display, but the HTC Status isn’t a high-end phone for a power-user, as it is designed for the teen-20’s audience. The 2.6” display worked fine when using the HTC Sense user interface, desktop widgets, and the Facebook app. The only real issue arose when using the web browser, as text on web pages is too small to view, thus we had to often zoom in to make the text large enough to read. The screen can also be a bit dark when viewing in direct sunlight, so you may have to shade it with your hand.

The display on the Status is just 2.6'' in size

Below the display are the four capacitive buttons, send and end button, and a full QWERTY keyboard that is laid out in four rows. They keys do feel a bit small, and larger fingers can easily press down more than one at the same time, so you have to be careful about which letter you want to press. The one thing that we do like about it is that each key is curved up in the center, giving a nice tactile feel, and that they provide a noticeable click response when pressed. At the bottom right is the dedicated Facebook key, which will take you directly to a screen where you can type in your wall post, upload an image from the camera or gallery, and even send a message to a Facebook friend. Located on the left edge of the phone is the one-piece volume rocker, which can be tricky to use if you press near th

htc jetstream tablet

Labels:

There is no question about it, but Verizon has been aggressively attacking the 4G LTE market by bringing out a treasure trove of devices while AT&T sits idly as they await their time to throw open the switches. Rather than waiting for the inevitable, AT&T decided to get things started by bringing to market their very first 4G LTE enabled Honeycomb tablet – the HTC Jetstream.  Being HTC’s second tablet after the Flyer, it packs a wallop of dreamy hardware under the hood to complement its ability to surf the web lickity split one day in the future. However, its expensive price point from the onset might seemingly derail its ability to become a successful pioneer for AT&T’s upcoming next-generation data network.

The package contains:

HTC Jetstream
microUSB cable
Wall Charger
Quick Start Guide

Design:

Following the same design footprint established by the HTC Flyer, the Jetstream looks and feels like a much bigger version of its 7-inch sibling, but it sports a silver and dark grey paint job that’s not bad looking at all! For the most part, it exudes a decent amount of durability thanks to its brushed aluminum casing and soft touch patches in the rear, but strangely, a good tap on the back reveals some hollowness to the tablet. Neither the lightest (25 oz.) or most streamlined tablet on the market (0.51” thick), we’re reminded of the Motorola XOOM’s design since there are some similarities. Is it mesmerizing? Definitely not, but at least it embodies all of the characteristics we normally find with other top-notch HTC products.

Sizing things up with a 10.1” LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, it’s undoubtedly detailed enough to make out fine text, but it’s actually slightly below the mark of the 1280 x 800 resolution used by other similar sized tablets. Honestly, there’s no cause for alarm, but its color production is a bit bland looking when compared to the delectable palette offered by the Flyer’s display. Despite that, its wide viewing angles enable it to retain its visibility any way you look at it. However, we still find ourselves shielding it outdoors since its brightness output isn’t the strongest.

The HTC Jetstream packs a 10.1” LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels

Unfortunately, we’re more annoyed with the Jetstream’s volume rocker and dedicated power button since they’re just way too easily activated. They’re simply placed squarely in areas where our palms rest on the tablet, thus, accidentally pressing them every now and then.

Perched above the display, we find a front-facing 1.3-megaixel camera with a green LED light next to it that powers on when the camera is activated. Meanwhile, the bottom edge of the tablet houses a microUSB/MHL port that allows the tablet to charge, transfer data, and offer a mirrored experience on a high-definition television when an MHL adapter is used.

In the rear, the 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with dual-LED flash is positioned towards the upper right corner, while the left and right speaker notches are placed near the bottom edge. Removing the plastic panel surrounding the camera is effortless this time around unlike the Flyer, but once it’s off, we gain access to its SIM card and microSD card slots.

nokia astound full specificatio with cost in india

Say what you might think whenever you hear the word “Nokia” uttered stateside, but don’t think for a second that the Finnish company is incapable of producing a worthy handset for the US. Interestingly enough, it’s yet again T-Mobile taking the plunge in grasping another Nokia handset – which is still something that’s rarely absorbed by most US carriers. Undeniably something that’s not a high-end smartphone contender, the $79.99 on-contract Nokia Astound packs some new enhancements over its European variant, the Nokia C7, which just might position itself as an alternative mid-range solution.

The package contains:

Nokia Astound
microUSB cable
Wall Charger
Stereo Headset
Start Guide
Terms & Conditions

Design:

Although it shares an identical design to the Nokia C7, the only minor difference to it is the recognizable T-Mobile branding placed on its lower lip. The elongated looking handset employs a chrome trim bezel, tough plastic shell, and a stainless steel back cover which all combine harmoniously to produce one instantly eye catching handset. For something positioned to be a mid-range device, we find its solid construction to tastefully complement its shiny luster – which annoyingly attracts plenty of fingerprints. Nevertheless, it’s perfectly sized for the hand and is well balanced – albeit, there is a little bit of weight (4.59 oz) to it. Considering that the Nokia Nuron was the last touchscreen Nokia handset to grace T-Mobile, the Astound easily erases that handset from our memories with its favorably great looks.

nokia c2-03 reviws and specifications

Labels:

The Nokia C2-03 is one of those uncommon handsets that can operate with two SIM cards simultaneously. Why would one need such a feature? Well, there are plenty of folks around the world who use multiple phones, be it for having separate personal and work lines, or for simply using the services of two carriers at the same time. These are the people the C2-03 is aimed at as it spares them the trouble carrying around that second handset might be.

Other than that, there is nothing special about the Nokia C2-03 as it is merely a modest feature phone powered by the Series 40 platform. It offers a 2.6-inch resistive touchscreen display, basic 2-megapixel camera, 2G connectivity, and a slide-out numeric keypad.

Design:

Cheap and plasticky are the first two words that come to mind when holding the Nokia C2-03. With a waistline of 0.67 inches (17 millimeters), the phone is on the thick side and will most probably get noticed while its resting in your pocket. On the other hand, its curved edges make it really comfortable to hold, and the sliding mechanism seems reliable enough.

which os is best for your mobiles and tablet( ios vs android)

Labels:

Multiple times a day, if you look at the comments on any tech news website, or community forum, you're bound to see a flame war. Occasionally, you'll see a reasonable conversation, but more often than not, it's one side vs another with no understanding or communication involved. It a phenomenon that's easy to understand. Few of us can afford multiple devices, so you make your choice of brand and stick with it. These brand choices are especially powerful when the devices get more expensive, so electronics see this loyalty become much more fierce than anything else, and, sometimes that loyalty will go a bit too far. New studies have found that "fanboys" actually take it as a personal insult if you critique their brand, which makes rational conversation even more difficult. There are two major ideas that make this entire phenomenon ultimately pointless. We'll tackle the first idea in this piece, and the second in the next piece, which we're aiming to have up for Monday.

It's all opinion
Quality becomes ubiquitous by the nature of competition.

It's often hard to hear, but it's true: iOS isn't better than Android or WP7 or WebOS. But, that's because no OS is better than any other, because each fits a segment of the population with certain interests, needs, and preferences. To make this easier going forward, here's a handy summary to choose the best OS for you when choosing between iOS, Android, and the field. We're going to focus mainly on iOS and Android, because they are by far the powerhouses in smartphones right now. All other platforms will be relegated at this time to "the field" because each is either on its way out (BlackBerry, Symbian), has a limited user base (bada, WP7), or is in limbo (MeeGo, WebOS).

iOS

If you want an OS that is simple and intuitive, but fairly thin, or you're an avid iTunes user, your choice is iOS. The news that Apple fans don't want to hear, even though it's completely true: iOS, despite its name, is out of all the mobile platforms is the one that's the least of a full operating system. In reality, iOS is not much more than an app launcher, especially given the limited form of multitasking that exists. This is the Apple way, of course: simple and easy to pick up and use, with as little as possible to have to worry about. However, because of the tight control by Apple, you have to move on Apple's pace and only get updates once a year.

That said, because iOS isn't much more than an app launcher, it does have the biggest and best selection of apps available on any platform. Many developers still choose to create their apps for iOS first and other platforms later. And, because of the app review policies and general OCD legacy of Steve Jobs, the apps on iOS tend to be higher quality, and tend to have better UI compared to Android and BlackBerry at least. And, especially once you get to the iPad, the selection of tablet apps on iOS blows away any competition. Some may point to the fact that Android has almost as many apps as iOS, and that is true as far as pure numbers from each store, but the difference is that the Android Market has a large supply of clone apps, spam, and general crapware, whereas iOS may have a lot of pointless apps, but at least you wouldn't find Perturbed Pigeons or any other ripoff like that in the App Store.

The iOS platform tends to iterate slowly, taking far longer than anyone would want to add features like cut/paste, or a better notification system. However, when Apple does release a new feature, it tends to be more matured than that of other platforms, especially Android. For instance, Apple may have taken a cue from Android with iOS's new notifications system, but the system seems to be more thought out and complete with more options than what you'll find in stock Android. Additionally, Google has just bumped its Voice Actions app to support 6 total languages, because Google wants to release features faster. On the other side, Apple's upcoming voice controls in iOS 5 is powered by the voice input gurus at Nuance, so it would be surprising if iOS has support for fewer than 20 languages at launch. Or, even with Google Wallet, which just launched on one variant of one device with one credit card partner. Again, assuming Apple has NFC in the new iPhone, we would expect that the mobile payment system included would be far more matured with more partners at launch, or very soon afterwards.

As far as hardware, it's a bit of a double-edged sword with Apple. Apple tends to have great hardware design, but that design has to be good enough for everyone, because it's the only option. The only choice you'll get is in color and storage size. If you want a bigger screen, different form factor, or physical keyboard, you're out of luck. Or, if you don't want to spend $199 for the iPhone, you'll have to choose the previous generation iPhone, which may be obsolete before your contract is out. In general, customization is frowned upon with Apple, aside from changing your background. For customization and choice, you want:

Android

If you like to tinker and customize, if you like to have new features regardless of if they're fully baked, or if you're deep into the Google web ecosystem, Android was made for you. To be fair, many manufacturers try to do some of the customizing for you to make the experience simpler and more coherent, but at its core, Android was made for those of us who like to play with our gadgets. HTC Sense and other UI overlays are really just an attempt to capture some customers who would normally choose the simplicity of Apple. But even then, you can customize anything you'd like from the look of the launcher to alternative keyboards, and that's where Android shines. Alternative keyboards like gesture based Swype or FlexT9 alone are a huge benefit because of the added speed of text input, add that to easy access to information through widgets, and you can really make your device whatever you want.

Of course, you can't talk about Android without talking about its open nature. Customization is a big benefit of this style, but it also leads to a lack of control for Google. This means that even though Google releases a new OS update once a year, manufacturers don't push those updates very fast. This delay has forced Google to split the basic apps from the OS, in order to push updates faster through the Android Market. Both iOS and Android have a fair number of jailbreakers/rooters, but for different purposes. On iOS, you would jailbreak to add features to a tightly controlled platform, while on Android you root to add features, but more importantly, to know you have the newest OS at all times.

The open nature obviously also extends to the Android Market. The benefit of this is in the speed of releases, and no apps being banned due to objectionable content. Unfortunately, that also means a ton of spam, clone apps, and copyright infringing apps, as well as some malware. Overall, the selection of apps on Android phones is on par with iOS, but the quality tends to be lower (although getting better), and as we mentioned, there is still a big gap with tablet apps.

As far as hardware, once again Android is rife with choice. If you prefer a smaller screen, larger screen, physical keyboard, or various amounts of internal storage, the options are there. More importantly, there are choices for every price point, whether you want to pony up for the high end, or even if you just want a free smartphone. Of course, hardware quality and OS update speed vary with manufacturers, not to mention the variation in software UI. It can be confusing when purchasing, but once you've decided, you're still in an ecosystem and can share apps or widgets with friends who may have a completely different Android experience.

Some will complain that the Android ecosystem moves too fast, with both hardware and software, and that handsets become outdated too quickly. But, we're of the mindset that faster is always better. The competition is pushing all manufacturers to keep ahead of the pack and that competition pushes forward the entire smartphone ecosystem, not just Android. Besides, Android is still iterative, just like desktops. Sure, there may be something better out a few months after you purchase, but your 2+ year old phone probably still works just fine, assuming it has received software updates from the manufacturer. Even Apple is letting older phones stay alive with new versions of iOS, and not pushing as hard with forced obsolescence. Of course, on both platforms, some older devices may not be able to take advantage of all new features, but for the most part apps will work no matter what. The only trouble that can arise is that, as with desktops, when there is a big jump in hardware, the software may not be optimized to handle it. For example, the first dual-core Android phones hit the market in early 2011, but the Android OS won't be optimized for multiple cores until Ice Cream Sandwich

samsung galaxy plus full specification and rate in india

Labels:

Someone has just finished off a six-pack of energy drinks. The Samsung Galaxy S plus is nearly identical to the original Galaxy S, save for the different chipset, which packs a faster 1.4GHz processor.

Samsung I9001 Galaxy S Plus official photos

Samsung's bespoke Hummingbird chipset has been swapped out for Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon. The "T" means it's a faster version of the vanilla MSM8255 chipset found in a good deal of Android phones. With a clock speed of 1.4GHz, it could be up to 40% faster. We'll see how they measure up though, as they have slightly different architectures.

Qualcomm's chipset comes with Adreno 205 graphics instead of the custom PowerVR SGX540 in the original Galaxy S. We expect a slight difference in graphics performance too. Also, the new battery can hold up to 10% of extra juice, for a total of 1650 mAh.

Other than that however, you can't tell the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S Plus apart - not even with a caliper and scales. Here's a summary of what the S Plus has to offer, complete with a feeling of deja vu.
Key features
Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support
14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support
4" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution, PenTile matrix
Super slim at 9.9mm
Android OS v2.3.3 with TouchWiz 3.0 UI customization
1.4GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255T chipset
512 MB of RAM
8GB internal storage, microSD slot (up to 32GB cards)
5 MP autofocus camera with face, smile and blink detection
720p HD video recording at 30fps
Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n support
GPS with A-GPS connectivity; Digital compass
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v3.0
Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
Great audio quality
FM radio with RDS
1650 mAh Li-Ion battery
Accelerometer and proximity sensor
Document editor and file manager come preinstalled
Secondary video-call camera
Swype predictive text input
Full Flash support for the web browser
Main disadvantages
No flash for the camera
No dedicated camera key
Fingerprint prone plastics
Virtually unchanged year-old design
Adreno 205 GPU is weaker than PowerVR SGX540 in the original

We were quite pleased with the original Galaxy S, but the bar has been raised beyond reach by the new super flagship, the Galaxy S II. The Galaxy S Plus is a new and improved edition but one that will hardly make a big splash.

It's still a phone that can make a solid impression though. The 4" SuperAMOLED screen with WVGA resolution is a great performer to this day and at 9.9mm of thickness, the S Plus is a proud member of the sub-centimeter club.

We've already seen the Samsung Galaxy S Plus in action. An early premarket sample, running at just 1.2GHz, showed promising results as an alternative to dual-cores this year. If you're curious, you can check out the article here, but we'll be running the benchmarks and other tests anew anyway, so you may just read on as well.

Samsung I9001 Galaxy S Plus in our office • Galaxy S and Galaxy S Plus side by side

Flip to the next page where we'll look at the Galaxy S plus from all sides. If that doesn't make your heads spin, maybe trying to tell the difference between the new guy and the original Galaxy S will. After that, it's TouchWiz-glazed Gingerbread and a round of benchmarks.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S now available In India Price

Although we've heard no word of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S in stores, we've spotted it on one online retailer's website and no doubt it'll start cropping up elsewhere soon.
The Arc S is an uprated version of Sony Ericsson's previous flagship the Arc. The key difference being the improved 1.4GHz processor (compared to the Arc's 1GHz). Beyond that the S is effectively the same device but that's not a bad thing.
Highlights include the top-notch 4.2" LCD with Sony's BRAVIA engine to really make it 'pop'. There's 512MB of RAM, an 8MP camera capable of 720p HD video at 30fps with continuous auto-focus and a new 3D sweep panorama mode, a feature previously reserved for the likes of Sony Cybershot cameras like the TX-9. The most impressive thing about the sweep being that it creates a 3D image using the S' single lens camera. Also we should add that we've checked with SE personally and the same feature should be coming to Arc users in the not too distant future so there should be no bad blood between Arc and arc S users.
The Arc S will be available in Pure White , Gloss Black , Misty Silver , Midnight Blue and Sakura Pink and if you want one now, check out the source link and have $528.50 spare. Still unsure, check out our coverage of the original Arc here to get an idea of what you could be picking up.
Update: Although we have no confirmed date yet, mobile carrier Three will definitely be getting the Xperia arc S, alongside Sony Ericsson's Live with Walkman. Thanks to Ahmed for this one.
