Many Users Were Asking For Beta 8 Update For Samsung Galaxy Ace Bearing Model S5830.Finally It Has Arrived.But The Sad News is That the Camera & Radio Have not Been Fixed Yet.As These Two Are Essential Factors Required in Day to Day Life.Since Updates Are Rolling Very Fast, We can Expect Camera To be Fixed Soon.
Let Us Discuss Something About Beta 8 Update.In My Opinion This is the Most Stable Update Than the Previous Ones.Since Lot of Minor Bugs Are Fixed in this Update, System Performance is Improved & More RAM is Free.Video Decodes Faster Since New Video Decoding Kernel is Added.There Are Lot Many Improvements in This ROM.You Can Check Them At Changelog Mentioned Below.
Note: This is not Official Firmware Update By Samsung Mobile.This is Unofficial Port of Cyanogenmod 9.

Procedure to Update Galaxy Ace S5830 with ICS Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
For Simplicity We Have Divide This Article in 2 Simple Steps:
Step 1: Installation of Base  Firmware
  • Your Device must be on Gingerbread 2.3.x ROM.Update Can not be Applied in Case If You Are on Froyo 2.2.x.
  • If Your Device is Not Running On Gingerbread 2.3.x, Please Follow the Procedure to Update Your Device to Latest 2.3.6 DDKQ8 Firmware.
Step 2: Installation of Custom Recovery & ICS 4.0.4 Beta 8 Update
Before Proceeding, you need to Install Custom Recovery Image in  Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 as without which you cannot apply this update of Cyanogen Mod 9 a.k.a ICS Android 4.0 firmware.
  • Download the below mentioned Two files in your computer so that you can then make use of the same in the later part of this article.
  1. Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.zip 
  2. Cyanogen Mod 9 (ICS 4.0.4 Beta 8).zip
  • Once you download the above files, you then need to proceed to connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. Once you do this, you now need to copy the two zip files which you have downloaded in your computer to your phone.
  • After copying, disconnect the phone from the computer and then turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP + Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
  • In the recovery mode, you need to select the option of “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from SD Card” after which you will see the list of files which are there in the phone. From the list of files, select the file which is named as “Clockworkmod.zip”.Install Clockwork Mod Recovery.After Installing CWM Recovery.Restart Your Phone And Again Enter into Recovery Mode.Now Choose Install Zip from SD Card.And Locate “Galaxy-Ace-ICS-CM9-Beta-8.zip” which You Have Copied Earlier.Install It.Again Reboot the System & Enter into the Recovery Mode.
  • In the Recovery Mode, select Wipe data/factory Reset.Also you need to select Wipe Cache partition.
  • It will take around 10 minutes for the whole process of update to get completed. Once the update process is done, the device will be landing up in the recovery mode. Now, select “++++ Go Back ++++” > “reboot system now” so that the device is re booted successfully.
Tip: Restore all the data which you have taken as backup before and also ensure that you have restored the Access Point Name settings which are responsible for Enabling Data Network. If the device enters in the Boot loop mode then you need to again apply the firmware by following the above steps.
So as soon as the firmware updated successfully, the device will be rebooted and Cheers, you have now successfully updated Your Device to Latest Version of ICS 4.0.4 Beta 8 Update.(You can Check it by Settings->About Phone). For all those who are having Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 smart phone can now roll up their sleeves as an all new update has arrived which is a Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware version and is dubbed as DDKQ8. This firmware is officially rolled out for Indian users and since it doesn’t come with the boot loader, you can easily apply on any of the ACE S5830 smartphone. In the due course of this article we will also be checking out on what are the pre update instructions followed by which we will check out the detailed tutorial on how to apply the same. We are not having the exact change log on what are the things which are new and improved but there are some minor performance fixes which have been done in this update. In this update there is an all new option of Lock Screen which resembles more like the screen lock for S2.
Note: Just in case if you are on any of the custom ROM firmwares or say if the device is rooted, then the rooting access will be revoked. The best part is the warranty can be reclaimed after applying the update. Just in case if you wish to root the device after applying this firmware, we will soon be coming up with an article which will help you to root the device on DDKQ8 firmware. It was the last time when we saw on how you can update with DDKQ6 update.
Rooting Information: In the process of this firmware update, the phone won’t be rooted as this firmware is the official release released by the Samsung Electronics Ltd.
Enhancements in DDKQ8 Gingerbread 2.3.4 Release:

Pre Update Instructions:
  • In the process of firmware update process, there is a possibility that the data may get lost or corrupted. So It is Always better to Backup Your Data.
  • Battery charge left in the phone should be 60% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Up next you need to disable all the Security suites in your computer and uninstall all the antivirus apps in your phone. Enable the USB debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked. USB Debugging Mode can only be enabled once you disconnect the phone from computer. USB Debugging should be ticked.

Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 with DDKQ8 Gingerbread 2.3.6:
  • Now, from extracted files, you need to Open Odin executable file and turn Off your device so as to enter the device in the Download Mode.
  • The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button . Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the download mode. Please note that it’s not recommended to proceed if you are not entering into the download mode. One can also refer the below video to enter into the download mode.
  • Once the device is entered in the download mode, you need to connect the device to the computer using the original USB cable and once connected you will see that the ID : COM section in Odin will turn Yellow which will mean that you are now all set to select the files mentioned below. You can select the files by clicking on the corresponding tabs in Odin. Also, all the other settings in the Odin should be the same as shown in the screen captures below.

  • After selecting the files, click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update and once the firmware update is completed the device will reboot on its own. Turn Off your phone so that the device can be booted in the recovery mode.
  • You can enter into the recovery mode by pressing Menu Button, and holding this you need to press the Power Button. Once you enter into the recovery mode, choose the options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
So, that’s it there you go you have now successfully updated your Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 with the latest version of DDKQ8 Gingerbread 2.3.6 which is the stable version of the firmware.
